Rep. Jenkins Statement on Iran Deal

Statement

Date: May 8, 2018
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Foreign Affairs

U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) issued the following statement on President Trump's announcement that the United States will be withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal:

"Allowing Iran in any way to obtain a nuclear weapon would endanger our national security and the security of our allies in the region, and this Iran deal fails to protect the world from the threat of a nuclear Iran. President Trump is acting in the best interests of our nation by rejecting this flawed deal and going back to the table to renegotiate. We must resume using sanctions to rein in Iran's nuclear program while we negotiate a better deal, one where Iran does not and cannot get a nuclear weapon."
